The best place is in your own home, or in a place that is comfortably warm, quiet and not liable to interruption from phones, doorbells, noise from traffic, neighbours playing music or any other irritations that are liable to cause you to be unable to relax.
2. Move yourself.
You can't realistically expect to lose weight when your job entails you sitting down for most of the day, whether it be at a desk, driving, or operating machinery then coming home in the evening and spending the rest of it sitting in a chair or on a sofa in front of the television! You have to do something more and there is no one else that can make you do it - you have to want to do it for yourself or you'll only resent doing it! So if you've made your mind up that you want to lose weight, you are going to have to get yourself motivated to move!
3. Eat sensibly.
Ok, that might sound like a cliche from a thousand different diets, but its one cold hard truth that nobody likes to hear! While you're sitting in front of the television stuffing pizza in your face watching an ad for this or that amazing new diet pill that is going to make everything all right, you are never going to lose an ounce! More like carry on putting even more weight on until you've eaten yourself to death.
So just as in the previous point about moving yourself, you also have to exercise some common sense in what you eat. And don't think a quick jog around the block entitles you to a super double burger and fries and double thick shake either! It does not and eating that stuff will kill you quicker than you realise!
4. Set achievable goals.
Get a picture in your head of how you believe you should actually look when you are at your ideal weight. This should be what you will aim for. Forget glossy magazine pictures of super-slim 20 year old models because that isn't you... unless of course you are a 20 year old model and have gained some weight that you need to shift!
Any weight loss program should be geared up to you losing only the amount of weight that you can realistically lose in a realistic timeframe. That, for most people is a slow process that should be taken over a reasonable period of time and never, never rushed.
5. Want it!
The bottom line for any weight loss program to actually work is that you have to want it enough to do it and stick at it and never revert back to the lifestyle that got you overweight in the first place. With the motivation to lose weight coming from with you rather than from without in the form of a nagging spouse or name-calling work colleagues trying to bully you into losing weight. You have to want to do it for yourself and when you want it badly enough, you will do it and you will stick at it.
